We recently held our first annual “Brunch in the Dark” at Bluestone Lane in Dumbo Brooklyn. The event was interesting and unique for all participants. Guests were blindfolded for a six-course meal, in order to simulate being visually impaired/blind. The event also prompted participants to better understand the difficulties that VIP’s face daily (such as eating a meal)
Through this event and the generous help of our donors, we were able to raise over $30,000! These funds will go to help vision impaired individuals achieve individual goals such as sports, education, recreation etc.
I would like to give a quick thank you to everyone that donated and attended the event! We owe it’s success not only our attendees but, also to our generous donors and Bluestone Lane for hosting our event.
We would also like to announce that Bluestone Lane has partnered with us in an initiative to add braille menus to Bluestone locations in order to better accommodate the visually impaired.
