On August 8th, the Foreseeable Future Foundation partnered with AmpSurf, Adaptive Sports New England, and the always-spirited Bagel Boys to host an Adaptive Surfing Clinic in Middletown, Rhode Island.

Set along the beautiful shoreline of Sachuest Point, visually impaired athletes and their families came together for an evening focused on building confidence, fostering community, and experiencing the thrill of riding a wave, many for the very first time!
Here is a recap video from the Rhode Island surf clinic:
From the moment participants arrived, the energy on the beach was electric. Many of the visually impaired athletes stepped into the water with a mix of nerves and excitement, yet their courage defined the evening. As one surfer shared, “It was good for my soul.” Their determination, joy, and wide smiles were contagious.
AmpSurf’s skilled instructors provided hands-on, safety-focused training, helping new surfers learn how to balance, paddle, and catch their first wave. Volunteers offered one-on-one guidance, walked boards to the shoreline, and cheered every successful ride. For many, it was an opportunity they may not otherwise have, and the impact was felt deeply by everyone involved.

Adaptive surf clinics like this aren’t possible without an incredible network of support. We are so grateful to AmpSurf, the Bagel Boys, Adaptive Sports New England, and all the volunteers who helped with transportation, setup, photos, and support on the beach. Your dedication and energy made this clinic possible and helped create an experience that will be remembered for years to come.

Beyond the waves, the clinic brought people together. More waves. More connection. More moments that stay with you long after you’ve left the beach.
